The colors got me interested from a far. As I got closer, I realized these are cloth flowers. I suppose I should have known better – nothing in nature is quite this bright. The display is lovely nonetheless and the lady selling the flowers became animated and friendly when she noticed me. A friend tells me bouquets like these are popular with Vietnamese preparing for the upcoming TET lunar new year holiday.
Danang’s ocean front runs north to south for several kilometers, ultimately making it to Hoi An about 10 km to the south. Beautiful surf, beautiful sun, and a sparkling, clean beach, all of which give Danang considerable appeal. The waves are rolling in are off the South China Sea, a body of water often in the news these days.
This is another shot to go with one I posted a few days ago of the Moat that surrounds Chiang Mai’s Old City. This one shows the southeast corner of the Moat where one of the sections of the old city wall built during the time of the Lanna kingdom (1292-1775) is still standing.
These chilies are what give Thai food zing. Sometimes I eat things that literally explode in my mouth. Delicious. I love Thai food.
