Though it is impossible to find a real Christmas tree in
Beijing, several places do sell artificial trees. Just guessing, but I suspect many,
perhaps most, of the buyers are local businesses, restaurants and shops which want a
tree on the premises. Christmas has become rather fashionable in China in recent years, but not many families have trees in their homes.
Be that as it may, the young man in the photo, who looks like he belongs in a junior
high school classroom, is responsible for selling the trees at this outdoor Beijing
market. |
