Beijing implemented its last ditch effort to provide clean air for the 2008 Olympics on 20 July. Work has been suspended at all but a handful of the city's construction sites and factories have been closed, not only in Beijing but in other nearby locales as well. Cars are limited to driving on odd or even numbered days depending on the last digit of the license plate. Yesterday and today, however, the city was shrouded in "fog". This photo was taken at about 11 in the morning Beijing time on July 25. The Bird's Nest stadium is some two clicks west of this location.
